Mentorship Policy
Boundaries that protect Members, Mentors, and the purpose of the community. Effective 2 August 2026.
Purpose and scope
This policy applies to Mentors, Members, and any interaction that begins through Uncüth. Every Member is at least 18 and every Mentor is at least 22, but an age threshold does not remove power imbalances. Mentors are expected to use access, experience, reputation, and influence responsibly.
Mentorship is not control
Offer options, context, and honest experience. Do not demand obedience, exclusivity, loyalty, secrecy, gratitude, unpaid work, public endorsement, or continued contact. Do not make a Member’s access to advice, opportunities, introductions, or recommendations conditional on a personal, romantic, sexual, political, religious, financial, or commercial favour.
Anti-predatory conduct
Never use an Uncüth interaction to:
- groom, sexualise, proposition, date, stalk, harass, intimidate, or coerce a Member;
- seek intimate images, sexual information, passwords, identity documents, or unnecessary sensitive data;
- create emotional, professional, financial, or social dependency;
- recruit for exploitative labour, deceptive schemes, high-pressure sales, or undisclosed organisations;
- threaten a Member’s reputation, opportunity, immigration, education, employment, or community standing; or
- retaliate against a person who declines contact, sets a boundary, blocks, reports, or ends the interaction.
Communication and privacy
Keep communication on Uncüth where the product supports it. Move to another channel only with clear, freely given agreement and a practical reason. A Member may withdraw that agreement at any time. Do not publish, forward, record, or share a private conversation or personal detail without permission, except where reasonably necessary to report a safety concern or comply with law.
Meetings and off-platform contact
Remote contact should be the default when it is sufficient. If people choose to meet, use a public or professional place, make the purpose and expected duration clear, and let either person leave or cancel without pressure. Do not insist on private homes, hotel rooms, isolated locations, travel, alcohol, or secrecy. Uncüth does not supervise off-platform meetings.
Money, work, and conflicts
Do not request payment, gifts, investment, unpaid labour, account access, or financial information as a condition of mentorship. Clearly disclose any personal or commercial interest before making a recommendation, introduction, job offer, investment suggestion, or referral. Any paid engagement must be separate, transparent, voluntary, lawful, and never presented as required by Uncüth.
Professional limits
Do not present mentorship as licensed legal, medical, mental-health, financial, immigration, or other regulated advice unless you are appropriately qualified and the engagement is clearly identified. Never diagnose, prescribe, guarantee outcomes, or discourage someone from seeking qualified or emergency help.
Member responsibilities
Members should protect passwords and sensitive information, verify important claims independently, and decide what contact feels safe. A Member never owes a Mentor access, affection, money, work, secrecy, or a positive review. Leaving, declining, blocking, and reporting are always permitted.
Reporting and enforcement
If an interaction feels unsafe or violates this policy, stop contact where safe and report it through Contact us. Preserve relevant messages if doing so is safe. For an immediate threat, contact the appropriate local emergency service. Uncüth may investigate, limit contact, remove content, suspend or revoke Mentor status, close accounts, preserve safety records, or cooperate with lawful authorities. We will try to limit disclosure of a report, but cannot promise confidentiality where investigation, safety, or law requires sharing.

The Terms of Service and Privacy Notice also apply. If this policy sets a stricter safety boundary for a mentoring interaction, follow this policy.
